Christmas travellers bound for home – wherever home may be.

“Christmas is a time when you get homesick even when you’re home.” ~ Carol Nelson.

Home is not always a destination found on GPS.

It is the unexpected guests, long time friends, who come to the door with big smiles on their faces…

For most Canadians, home is the crunchy snow underfoot on a cold night, and the promise of a warm house once the walk is done…

It is the mouthwatering smells wafting from a kitchen where food is simmering on the stove while the turkey cooks in the oven all afternoon…

And what about the trees all decked in soft lights covered by fresh glittering snow…isn’t that home too?

The joyful sounds of Christmas

For me, it is the traditional carols sung at mass that bring to mind people who appreciated them… and who are no longer with us…and the memories, oh the memories!

Most of all, it is the sight of family and friends enjoying good food around the dining room table.

And what would home be without the excited faces of children waiting for Santa to come in the middle of the night?

Of course, home may not be so much a physical place as a state of mind for many of us.

Christmas will always be an occasion for loved ones to come together, and to create new memories wherever they might be on this special occasion.

Safe travels to anyone going home in the days ahead.

    • Mary Lou…thank you so much for reading my posts. My blog often ends up being about memories that come to me from the past. I don’t know why that is but I roll with it. I am still editing many posts as I just recently transitioned from a blog to an entire website so there is lots to learn.

I appreciate that you took the time during this busy week to stop by. As I type this, we have a soft snow falling. Very peaceful, very beautiful. May your week be filled with beautiful, peaceful moments!
