Sophie, a very relaxed dog…as long as I am close by!

“We live our lives as if nothing is a miracle. Dogs live their lives as if everything is a miracle.” (aplacetolovedogs.com)

This post was first published in July 2015 when I was at the beginning of my journey as a blogger and an artist.  Since then, I have filled many sketchbooks, and painted more dogs.

At the end of this post, I have added recent photos of Sophie, our Maltese. On Tuesday of this week, we said goodbye to our faithful companion. She had been sick for the last three years and she was tired. It was her time.  She is sorely missed.

Sketch completed with 2B pencil and watercolour in Pentalic Aqua Journal.

Sophie is an easy dog to sketch. As long as she is close to me, she will not budge.

In both sketches, she is living la vida loca.

Her favourite pillow is under my kitchen chair where she is quite happy to wait for me to finish whatever I am doing. It keeps her within visual distance of the fridge where at any moment, she could be offered a piece of cheese or carrot. Ahhhhh, life is good!

On the left, a photo taken on July 1, 2019 as we enjoyed beautiful summer weather.

    • Not Ok yet. She is on steroids and we have a vet appointment in internal medicine tomorrow. Thank you for the note. I appreciate it.

  • Sophie is adorable! She looks like a wonderful companion and a lot of fun. You have captured her so beautifully in your sketches.

    • Thanks Christine. She is a sweetie to say the least. We almost lost her this week while she was under surgery for her teeth. Her platelet count was extremely low and nobody saw this on her charts. She is slowly recovering. Thanks for leaving a comment.
