A relaxed dog is an easy one to sketch

“We live our lives as if nothing is a miracle. Dogs live their lives as if everything is a miracle.” aplacetolovedogs.com.

This post was first published in July 2015. I have added recently taken photographs of Sophie, my Maltese. In 2015, I was at the beginning of my journey as a blogger and an artist.  Since then, I have filled many sketchbooks, and painted more dogs.  The learning continues.

Sketch completed with 2B pencil and watercolour in Pentalic Aqua Journal. This was done as an assignment for a Sketchbook Skool online class I followed in the fall of 2014.

Sophie is an easy dog to sketch. As long as she is close to me, she will not budge.

In both sketches, she is living la vida loca. Her favourite pillow is under my kitchen chair where she is quite happy to wait for me to finish whatever I am doing. It keeps her within visual distance of the fridge where at any moment, she could be offered a piece of cheese or carrot. Ahhhhh, life is good!

On the left, a photo taken on July 1, 2019 as we enjoyed beautiful summer weather.

    • Not Ok yet. She is on steroids and we have a vet appointment in internal medicine tomorrow. Thank you for the note. I appreciate it.

    • Thanks Christine. She is a sweetie to say the least. We almost lost her this week while she was under surgery for her teeth. Her platelet count was extremely low and nobody saw this on her charts. She is slowly recovering. Thanks for leaving a comment.

I’d love to hear what you have to say...
