Custom pet portraits on wood slices - a menagerie of perfect pets.

My friends will understand if I am a bit cross-eyed this holiday season. Let me explain.

Over time, I have saved many photos of the dogs that brighten my life, including furry friends who visit me occasionally; to be sure, I was not lacking in inspiration for my art.

And I happened to have leftover blank wood slices from last year’s Christmas project, all nicely dry and just waiting to be painted on.

Since painting the furry friends on wood slices (below),  I have been painting more 3" ornaments in my workshop as the orders keep coming in.

Besides the teensy brushes, painting small requires a steady hand, and very good eyes. I am loving painting all the different pets I am sent as commissions, and the stories for each of them.

So please forgive me if at times, my eyes are bloodshot, and I can't quite focus!

I have very nearly used up all the wood slices set aside from last year.

Canadian supplier of birch slices

Fortunately, I received my order of birch wood slices from my Canadian supplier. I will start using these birch slices in the new year. They are beautifully sanded and ready to use.

If you need birch slices from a Canadian supplier from Northern Ontario, (as opposed to a supplier from China on amazon), contact Robert at woodthings.ca

Wood slice portraits are $45.00 each, shipping included in North America. Visit my shop as I have other art available including prints and originals.  I also have limited stocks of cards remaining as well.  Contact me for anything you might like to order.

Festive bunch of wood slice friends

So here are my own festive bunch of wood slice friends, ready to party together.

If you follow me on Facebook or on Instagram, you might have already seen some of these furry companions.  I also made a video on youtube.

A custom pet portrait on canvas or on wood is appreciated at any time of the year, and is certainly a very unique gift!

Send me a personal email by clicking here if you wish to have a pet painted by me.  Visit my Custom Pet Portrait page for other pets I have painted in the past.

What is keeping you busy this Christmas season?

Goodbye Chico, our little friend.  2005-2018
