Pernelle Robidoux searches for her creative voice.

Pernelle Robidoux, guest artist at Louise's ARTiculations
Pernelle Robidoux

Since I can remember, I have always loved the arts. Music, drawing, and painting are a passion of mine.

In 2013 I participated in an on-line painting class that ignited my creative spark. I have taken many on-line art classes since then, and I am now trying to put it all together and find my creative voice through practice.

Making art is a way for me to express myself and find some ‘Me’ time which doesn’t always come easy being a mom of four.

At the beginning of 2020, I started an Instagram account which really helped me to create that time and connect with other artists of all levels for support and inspiration. I added a few time lapse videos on my page which show my process. I really enjoy making these quick videos and sharing them to inspire others to create.

Embracing artistic freedom to explore.

I have a passion for portraits; they intrigue me and have so much to say.  The expressive eyes especially have a story to tell.

When you look at one of my portraits from up-close, you can see the different layers and marks that make up the piece which I can never get enough of.  Sometimes it’s also knowing when to stop and not overwork a piece that is tricky. However, each decision is part of the learning process and growing as an artist.

Most of all, I love imperfections, colour, textures, expressive marks, and lines.

Different techniques inspire me: whether it is dry brushing, scribbles, one-line drawings, digital drawing, thick or thin application of paints and layering to create unique colors, all contribute to my works of self-expression. Always exploring, I am finding my creative voice, one brushstroke or line at a time.

I use a variety of mediums like acrylic paints, watercolour pencils, oil pastels, coloured pencils, pens, graphite, inks and anything that makes a mark.

This creative journey of mine is a work in progress, and eventually, I hope to find my voice and become a full time working artist.

My Instagram account is @pernellerobidoux. Hope to see you there 😊

    • Sally that means a lot to me, thank you very much. A lot of practice and telling the little voice in my head to stay in the back seat is a daily challenge. Creating makes me feel alive. Happy creating 🙂
