This week’s prompt for the gratitude journal: sketch or illustrate your appreciation for the gift of music.
A day does not go by without music in my house. Music has been with me since I was a very young girl. You can see me in the photo at 2 1/2 years old, “playing” the piano at my grandmother’s house.
I decided to try a bit of collage for this journal entry. The music sheet has been painted with sepia acrylic ink while the colours are provided by a flowery shredded paper napkin. Finally, I spread a light pink gouache wash around the whole collage.
It’s a bit on the busy side but this is what came to mind for this entry…music and splashes of colour and me.
And here is the quote that I chose to accompany this piece…
“Art is how we decorate space; music is how we decorate time.” (Anonymous)
So true.
In what ways has music had an impact on your life?

Wonderful collage and quote you’ve included, Louise 🙂
Thanks Phil.
My pleasure, Louise 🙂
This composition is not too busy… I love music also. I think that this collage shows the many moods of music!
Oh well, it is what it is…sometimes, I run out of ideas but I want to keep trying new things. Stay tuned! I appreciate the comment Linda.
This is delightful,,,, I love the collage!
Why thank you Linda. Nice of you to stop by!
Music was also a big part of my life growing up. My mom would play piano and my dad would sing. On my dad’s side get together were made of music, My aunts would play piano and everyone would sing. New years’eve everyone would prepare a number for others to sing along. We sang at Christmas Eve mass, the Pagé choir in Masson. When my uncle Lucien came over, I had to play piano so he could sing. So many good memories with a bit of nostalgia.
When you are feeling blue, music has a way to soothes your soul. It talks to you, the way another person cannot sometimes.
So very true. And it relieves stress in much the same way that art does, or knitting, or any enjoyable hobby. Merci d’avoir laissé ce commentaire Thérèse.
