Daisy, a darling beagle.

Daisy the beagle thinks she is human.
This beagle enjoys breakfast with her human family.

Daisy is a memorial portrait commissioned by a mother for her son and daughter-in-law.

As with most pet companions, Daisy had her endearing characteristics. However, one particular memory is most vivid in her human mom’s mind…

Each morning, the ritual was the same. Daisy jumped on a chair at the dining table and would sit, quietly, and politely, while her adult family enjoyed their cups of coffee.

She listened attentively, staring at the speaker as though she understood every word of the conversation.

She knew, in her discreet manner, how to make her humans smile as she watched them enjoy their morning java.

Daisy – the portrait

From the pose, to the colour of the fur, the sparkle in the big brown eyes, the clarity of the colour variations, this is an excellent reference photo (see below). I wrote about reference photos in a previous blog post and Daisy's checked off all the boxes!

"Darling Daisy" is painted on a 5 x 5 gallery wrapped canvas in acrylic. This size is perfect for displaying in a bookcase, on a mantel, or on a desk at the office.
