The winner of a custom pet portrait will be announced in newsletter tomorrow!
In April, I announced that I would be offering three free custom pet portraits on paper to my newsletter subscribers.
The details were outlined in the newsletter and will be found again, in tomorrow's newsletter as well as the name of the pet I will paint.
Here are examples of recent pet portraits on watercolour paper.
Why watercolour paper?
I am always experimenting and I wanted to offer a variety of price points and styles for my clients. To date, I offer portraits on wood slices, on canvas, and on cedar board, as well as other possibilities such as glass ornaments or heart shaped ornaments on demand.
Acrylic takes very well to watercolour paper. The paper is treated with gesso before I start adding acrylic paint. Some people might prefer to frame their pet portraits and paper allows for this. In addition, paper is easier to ship anywhere in the world. The portrait is placed within a white matte with matching backing and inserted into a cellophane envelope for protection and then packaged for flat shipping.
