For this ThrowBack Thursday, I am thinking of all the pets I painted last summer. First, I painted a birthday gift, Kiwi, the cat. Next I painted Tony, the American Bulldog, then I moved along to Lady, a Golden Retriever. The last commissions were of two cats, Tony and Iggy. As I prepare this post, I am adding the finishing touches to another pet portrait of Sophie, my Maltese. I am very pleased that I captured her big, dark eyes. A few months ago, I painted a standard poodle on a piece of reclaimed cedar deck board. The poodle was given to a local high school Civics class to help them with a end-of-year project to raise money for an organization that rescues dogs.
See my Custom Pet Portrait Page if you have a pet you would like me to paint.
Tony the American Bulldog - Take two
I have never done this before, but as they say, there is a first time for everything.
I took another photo with my Ipad and I think the colours in this photo below are truer to the actual portrait. Be sure to check earlier posts where I demonstrate the steps leading to the finished product. I had a lot of fun choosing colours for this little puppy and his big paws.
So, once again, here is Tony, on 9x12 gallery wrapped canvas, finished sides. No need for an expensive frame. These gallery wrapped canvases have 1.5" sides and I always paint the sides in the same colours as the front. Completed in acrylics.
Please contact me for any information or questions you might have about a commission piece.
A pet portrait makes a unique gift that will become a conversation piece in your home. I accept new commissions throughout the year.
Adorable … those eyes!
Thank you Linda.
